Valentine’s Day can get even the stars so starry-eyed in love that they just can’t help but to pop the question to their equally famous significant other, so in anticipation of any engagements arising out the romantic holiday, Hollywood.com asked the Diamond Information Center’s Entertainment Marketing Director Kelly McMahon to offer some suggestions for engagement rings to perfectly suit Hollywood’s hottest couples, whatever their image–there is NO one ring to rule them all!

ULTRA HIP: Drew Barrymore & Fabrizio Moretti
Free-spirited Drew and her rocker Fabrizio are the ultimate union of Hollywood and rock and roll, and McMahon suggests the perfect ring to capture their cutting-edge cool, from New York jeweler Susan Rosen. “She’s worked with Madonna and other people from music,” says McMahon. “Her diamonds have a hip feel to it: big chunky bracelets and thick scrolls. She made this ring called the Punk Princess and it has three stones, which represent the past, present, and future. Because Drew and Fabrizio are not very conventional, but also have a very romantic love, this will be cute. This is something that has more style but also has a sentimental touch to it.”
ALTERNATIVE UNION: Ellen Degeneres & Portia De Rossi
Ellen and Portia can’t exactly make it legal in every state of the union, but why should that stop them from picking out the perfect expression of their romantic commitment? “I would say diamond bands,” says McMahon. “Ellen likes really simple pieces like stud earrings and diamond necklaces. I would pick diamond bands that they could stack with anniversaries, etc. There’s a ton of places that have them, like Fred Leighton and Neil Lane.”

OLDER WOMAN, YOUNGER MAN: Justin Timberlake & Cameron Diaz
Just in case Justin’s youth makes it hard for him to pick an age-appropriate rock for his lady love, McMahon has some pointers to keep them in sync. “Cameron‘s a very down-town girl, I think,” she offerd. “To me, deep down she definitely likes her designer labels and when it comes to something as important as an engagement ring, she’s going to pick a big label like Cartier. Cartier has a great ring with a classic appeal to them that is still very chic.”
THE POWER COUPLE: Sheryl Crowe & Lance Armstrong
Soulful singer Sheryl and her bicycling beau Lance are at the top of their games in two distinctly different fields, making them an enviable power couple, but they also have a down-to-earth attitude. “They are into this holistic thing and recently went to Napa Valley and got gem therapy done,” says McMahon. “I think they would pick a pick stone that had meaning to it and then have it set by somebody like Neil Lane. Sheryl knew Neil before–he has a spiritual side as well who has done Kabbalah before even Madonna. This would add to the spiritual meaning to them and add more to the traditional engagement ring.

MONEY’S NO OBJECT: Mischa Barton & Brandon Davis
Brandon comes from one of Los Angeles’ wealthiest families, so if and when he slips a ring on the finger of his longtime girl Mischa, you can bet he’ll pay top dollar. “Daniel K is this young, new designer who has the best quality diamonds, the best settings,” says McMahon. “He’s young himself and his pieces are very expensive and would be great for her. It’s very clean and beautiful, he’s the hottest new designer and does great quality pieces.”
FINALLY MAKING IT LEGAL: Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn
Kurt and Goldie are the one of the enduring Hollywood couples who have been together forever but have still yet to step up to the altar. We don’t expect that to change any time soon, but just in case, here’s what McMahon thinks Kurt should consider: “Goldie Hawn is a big lover of Fred Leighton jewelry, and Leighton is very popular near Barney’s near the shopping district where Kate Hudson and Goldie are seen. I think she would do something big and dramatic, but not as traditional.”

BIG BLING: Jay-Z & Beyonce
“Beyonce wears jewelry extremely well,” says McMahon, who expects that Beyonce‘s beau Jay-Z would go for the biggest, boldest, baddest bling he could afford. “Like Jennifer Lopez and she knows how to wear it without overdoing it, and she’s they type of person who could pull off the biggest diamond ring of anyone. I would say somebody like Paul Rafael, a newcomer. He’s worked with every music person there is, and he has a gigantic 22-carat yellow diamond ring which I would pick for them.”
THE YOUNG’UNS: Rachel Bilson & Adam Brody
McMahon didn’t miss a beat when she had to pick the perfect ring for the O.C. cuties, who just might decide to tie the knot at their tender ages (she’s 23, he’s 25): “Definitely Tiffany, because they’re very young, fresh, and a hip new couple. I think Tiffany would have what they want and symbolize young romance.”
HOLLYWOOD DREAM COUPLE: Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner
Ben
already made one purchase for his LAST lady love at Harry Winston which didn’t work out, so we doubt he’ll make a return engagement the next time he decides to get engaged-especially because his buffed Sig-O Jennifer could probably kick his butt if she wasn’t happy with his choice. “Because for the first time he’s been private, one of the places that would be good is this little jeweler called Stephen Russell,” suggests McMahon, noting the Madison Ave jeweler who specializes in micro pave bands and micro pave surrounding the main stone. “They make vintage inspired pieces. Very delicate, beautiful, and classic–like something you’d see at Fred Leighton, but this place is hidden and it would be a great place for him to go, because it’s very romantic to pick out a ring in privacy.”
