Why spend time thumbing through all the celebrity fashion mags trying to figure out how to dress like your favorite star, when you can buy the fabulous designer gowns right out of their closets–with a little help from eBay and General Motors?
Beginning Thursday, June 20, the online auction site eBay will auction off 10 elegant evening gowns worn on the fashion catwalk by some of today’s sexiest female stars at GM’s pre-Oscar “ten” event that took place last March. Showcasing designer finery as they strutted down the runway near sleek concept cars, the clothes worn by “perfect 10s” like Kate Beckinsale, Rose McGowan, Rachel Weisz and Christina Applegate are now being literally offered off their backs to benefit charity.
Proceeds from each lovely lady’s outfit–in their size, and with the occasional imperfection (the corset hooks on Jane Leeves‘ dress need repair, for example)–will be given to their favorite charities, with winning bids to be matched up to $3,500 by GM.
We’ve listed the 10 designer gowns, celebrity participants and and their charities below. Plus, click on the related link at the bottom of the page to see photos!
The auction also includes a brown, black and cocoa velvet beaded dress with heavily sequined bodice and plunging V back by Badgley Mischka worn by Jules Asner (size 2, valued at $8,000) benefiting The Thomas Pecorelli Memorial Fund; a Matthew Williamson beautiful strapless Indian-inspired fuscia pink chiffon dress with embroidery, gold sequins and long sweeping train worn by Dylan McDermott‘s wife Shiva Rose (size 4, valued at $6,000) benefiting V Day and Step Up; and an Oscar de la Renta black satin gown with flesh colored lining to mid-thigh and beautiful cut-outs with a white flower belt worn by actress Janel Moloney (size 4, valued at $6,000), benefiting Voices of Harmony.
