Natasha Lyonne and Edward Furlong
Duration: Two years
Ages: 21 and 23
Back story: Met on the set of “Detroit Rock City” and became involved during filming. Said Lyonne to Hollywood.com as late as July: “I’ve been in my first relationship … and I’m slowly seeing I’m wearing less platforms and more skirts …What’s interesting is when you get into a relationship, you sort of tap into this nature. It’s just what happens.”
But …: When Furlong was thrown out of a New York nightclub earlier this month, he had a new gal on his arm, hotel heiress Paris Hilton. According to the New York Post, Furlong and Hilton ran into Lyonne Sept. 6 at a club; Lyonne reportedly hissed obscenities at the new galpal, then said, “I better get out of here before I do something” before storming out.
Kirstie Alley and James Wilder
Duration: Three years
Ages: 49 and 32
Back story: After Alley‘s then-husband Parker Stevenson filed for divorce in March 1997 after 13 years of marriage, Alley soon cozied up to Wilder, who has starred in “Melrose Place” and “The Last Don II.” They became engaged in October 1997.
But …: At the same time her sitcom, “Veronica’s Closet,” was canceled, the couple split this spring. We don’t know why; the New York Daily News reports that the couple, as active Scientologists, are strongly discouraged from airing their personal problems in public, as it could throw a negative light on the church.
Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison
Duration: Married 17 years
Ages: 58 and 50
Back story: Ford, whose 12-year marriage to college sweetheart Mary Marquardt was on its last legs, met the “E.T.” screenwriter on the set of “Apocalypse Now” in 1976. He divorced Marquardt in 1979 and married Mathison four years later.
But …: The couple released a statement Nov. 7 announcing their separation. “We have been living apart for the last month,” it said. “We sincerely hope that we can work out our differences.” Despite tabloids publishing photos of Ford at a party in October with Lara Flynn Boyle, Ford‘s manager Patricia McQueeney declares “there is no third party involved.” Ford is living at a Manhattan hotel minutes from his family’s New York apartment, and hopes are high that the pair will reconcile.
