“Urban Legends: Final Cut” Premiere

HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 19, 2000 — Ever hear the story about the girl who wakes up in the icy bathtub and her kidney is missing?

Well, you’ll hear (and see it) on the big screen this fall in “Urban Legends: Final Cut,” the sequel to the 1998 surprise hit.

Promising more surprises and horrors, “Urban Legends” brings in a new cast, new stories and new screams. It stars newcomer Jennifer Morrison, former teen idol Joey (now Joseph) Lawrence, Anthony Anderson (“Me, Myself & Irene”) and Loretta Devine, who reprises her role as a Pam Grier-loving campus security guard. The cast turned out Tuesday night at Westwood’s Mann Village Theatre to premiere the film.

This time around, film students at Alpine University are preparing their senior projects to vie for the coveted Hitchcock Award, which guarantees the winner a shot in Hollywood.

Amy (Morrison), the daughter of a renowned documentary filmmaker, chooses to direct a horror film about a campus where killings resemble urban legends. And, of course, the line between fantasy and reality become blurred as students begin disappearing one by one.

Also on hand at the premiere were cast members Jacinda Barrett, Anson Mount, Jessica Cauffiel and director John Ottman, as well as Jessica Capshaw, Tom Arnold and Matthew Lawrence (Joseph’s younger brother).

“Urban Legends: Final Cut” opens Sept. 22.
