The Wild Thornberrys Movie
The Players: Featuring the voices of Lacey Chabert, Brenda Blethyn, Tim Curry,
Rupert Everett, Marisa Tomei; directed by Jeff McGrath (debut)
The Skinny: In this animated big screen version of the popular
Nickelodeon show, the adventures of the Thornberrys–a family of filmmakers
who travel around the world documenting the wild kingdom–continue.
Twelve-year-old Eliza (Chabert) is in Africa with the folks, where she meets amysterious shaman who grants her the power to talk to animals. But there’s a
catch–if she reveals her gift she will lose it forever. Eliza soon
discovers there are poachers gunning for an elephant herd, so she sets out
with Darwin, her pet chimp, to try to stop them.
The Bottom Line: Joining the Rugrats and Hey Arnold: The
Movie, Nickelodeon does it again, bringing one of their popular animated
TV series to the movie theaters. Should prove to be a nice addition to the
holiday fare, since there aren’t many kids movies in the last few weeks of
the year.
Opens: Dec. 20
