Winter Movie Guide 2002: “Two Weeks Notice”

Two Weeks Notice

The Players: Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant, Alicia Witt; directed by
Marc Lawrence

The Skinny: Millionaire George Wade (Grant) doesn’t make a move
without Lucy Kelson (Bullock), his multi-tasking Chief Counsel at the Wade
Corporation. She’s a brilliant attorney with a strategic mind–and an ulcer.
It’s not the job that’s getting to her–it’s George. Now, after five years,
Lucy wants her life back and gives her two weeks notice. Suddenly, they are
both faced with the inevitable fact of moving on–but do they both really
want to?

The Bottom Line: Ah, now this sounds much better than rival
Cinderella rip-off Maid in Manhattan. Directed by first-time director
Lawrence (who wrote Bullock‘s hit Miss Congeniality), one thing is
for certain: Bullock and Grant have this whole romantic comedy thing down
pat.
