After critical success with low-budget indie fare (Cassandra’s Dream, Ondine, In Bruges) Colin Farrell is once again being courted by major movie studio’s and it looks as if the Irishman has taken the bait.
Heat Vision reports that the 34-year-old actor has signed on to next play a charismatic neighbor/vampire in Fright Night, the Craig Gillespie-directed DreamWorks remake of the 1985 thriller that will also star Anton Yelchin and Toni Collette.
He will follow that by playing one of the title characters in the Seth Gordon-directed New Line comedy Horrible Bosses. He chose those films as he was also being courted for the Katherine Heigl drama One for the Money, and the Reese Witherspoon comedy This Means War at Fox that recently cast Chris Pine.
Having seen most of Farrell’s recent indie work (check out my review of the super-sweet Ondine here), I have a reinvigorated sense of faith in his abilities and though I’d be happy to see him stay off of the studio back lot’s permanently, I’ll embrace anything that he does moving forward with an open mind.
