Colin Firth Joins ‘My Fair Lady’?

Colin FirthTurns out, being the favorite to win an Oscar puts you in the running for nearly every movie being cast — even ones that rejected you previously.

Colin Firth — a man pretty much locked for Best Actor this year for The King’s Speech — is being courted by Sony Pictures to star in their rendition of the 1964 musical My Fair Lady as Henry Higgins. But the best news about this flick? Carey Mulligan is already attached to play Eliza Doolittle. Yes, that means Colin Firth and Carey Mulligan will share the big screen. That’s a whole lotta British-ness going on, and we like it!

Supposedly, Firth wanted the role originally, but was passed over by the studio in hopes of Hugh Grant taking the role. But then, apparently, the studio must have watched some Hugh Grant films and realized how horrible of an idea that was.
