Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis’ Casts Cotillard & Colin

Colin Farrell is hitting the gas and putting his career back on the fast track. After signing onto major roles in two films yesterday (Horrible Bosses and Fright Night), Variety reports that he’ll star opposite Marion Cotillard in director David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis.

The thriller is an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel and follows a multimillionaire on a 24-hour odyssey across Manhattan. Farrell will play the asset manager who loses all his wealth over the course of one day while Cotillard will play his wife. Written by Cronenberg, the $20.5 million budgeted project will be produced by Paulo Branco, but won’t start production until the filmmaker finishes his new drama A Dangerous Method, which starts shooting this month in Germany with Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen.

The plot sounds somewhat similar to Farrell’s Phone Booth, which was a big hit with critics and audiences as well. I look forward to everything that Cronenberg does and, this being the first film that he’ll have made without Mortensen since 2005, I’ll be looking forward to a stellar new pairing of talent as well.
