UPDATE: Deadline is reporting that White Collar star Matt Bomer has also joined the cast. As if there wasn’t already sufficient incentive for ladies to see this movie!
EARLIER: For the first time since perhaps Dazed and Confused, Matthew McConaughey is set for a role that’s actually somewhat exciting: a former exotic dancer in the Steven Soderbergh movie Magic Mike.
McConaughey has signed on to play Dallas, a male stripper-turned-club owner employing Channing Tatum‘s title character, also a dancer (rejoice, ladies!). Also starring is Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), a protege of Tatum’s character.
Soderbergh’s Contagion hits theaters Sept. 9, while McConaughey, who appeared in the March drama The Lincoln Lawyer, will next be seen in Richard Linklater‘s currently-awaiting-distribution dramedy Bernie.
