Paramount Goes With The ‘New Kid’

new kidSeriously? This is what it takes to sell a movie these days? A single page from a comic that is basically the first five minutes of a film told in six panels? Don’t get me wrong, I like Penny Arcade plenty but this is like purchasing a project after the logline was written on a dirty bar napkin. Must’ve been one hell of a pitch.

Anyway, Paramount is now developing New Kid after the success of the alternative animated hit Rango. As you can see from the comic, it’ll follow a human kid as he traverses a school filled with all kinds of aliens. It’s a metaphor for alienation, see. I really want this to be good, for the sake of Penny Arcade, but there are many ways it can go horribly wrong. I’m worried you guys. Very, very, very worried.
