Rise of the Planet of the Apes hasn’t even been out for a week yet, but the box office returns have been huge. So … sequel?
That’s what some member’s of the creative team behind the James Franco-starring hit are prepared for. In fact, writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa are thinking sequels. Plural.
Nothing has been officially decided on, but Hollywood loves it some sequels, and audiences went bananas over Rise last weekend (and they continue to); critics, too, have been pretty smitten. So the only question now would seem to be: When does the sequel get the go-ahead? Or perhaps even: How many get the go-ahead?
Jaffa, one-half of the married-couple writing team, had this to tease to TheWrap: “We’re definitely teed up. We feel very confident that there will be [a sequel], but at this point it’s still wait-and-see.” He then said that the duo has all along written drafts that would seamlessly allow for a sequel — or multiple sequels.
