Special effects legend John Dykstra, who won Oscars for the original Star Wars and Spider-Man 2 (wait, what?), has stepped in to direct his first feature. He’ll be helming Super Zero, based on the graphic novel Tales From the Farm. Due to Dykstra’s background, the film will be very effects-heavy as it focuses on a boy and his budding friendship with a gas station owner as they travel to an imaginary world. Why they can’t have monsters and aliens in their own world is beyond me, but Dykstra’s an old pro in the game. Effects people tend to make decent directors and if he puts as much work into this new venture as he did in his latest film (X-Men: First Class) then this should be a pretty good movie. Or it could blow. In Dykstra we trust..
