Unfortunately, we can’t all be Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), no matter how hard we may wish otherwise. Nope, unfortunately the position of Mother of the Dragons/Khaleesi is limited to one.
But you know what we can do? Recreate her ultra fabulous look – all the way from her braid-becrowned, platinum blonde head to her riding boots/princess slippers (it depends on her mood/travel conditions).
Costume
Her intricately floaty gowns may look near-impossible to create (not to mention the fact that a thrift store facsimile will be very hard to come by), but this cosplay tutorial by The Sorry Girls makes it look… well, almost easy.
And if you’re not much one for DIY, you can always purchase a good Game of Thrones-inspired dress on Etsy, and leave the task to the enthusiasts!
Hair
Well, as less than 0.1% of the population (yeah, I made that statistic up) has waist-length silver hair, you’re going to want to invest in a wig – Amazon, EBay, and specialized cosplay online shops are a good place to start.
And once you have your wig, your job is only half over: now it’s time to recreate those intricate braids (hey, just be glad you aren’t doing one of Cersei’s (Lena Headey) insane braid updos).
Makeup
Daenerys’ look is pretty simple – she’s got the no-makeup look down pat. Michelle Phan has an excellent tutorial (complete with wig and startlingly blue contact lenses) that breaks down the neutral eyeshadow, dramatic brows, and natural cheeks and lips. The likeness is startling – Phan’s always been something of a master of disguise (check out her Angelina Jolie video if you need further convincing!) Anyway, her video should be all you need when it comes to Dany’s beauty look.
…Aaand now we’re ready for Halloween, about five months early!
