Talk about surreal. After visiting the Magritte exhibit at MoMA this weekend, we couldn’t help but notice that one of our favorite motifs – the all-seeing Eye – is having a moment.
Some of our favorite designers are taking a cue from Rene Magritte, Salvador Dalí and Max Ernst by integrating this insightful element into their fall fashions. From sweatshirts to phones cases, we can’t seem to escape its gaze. Admittedly, we’ve been eyeing (pun intended) Kenzo’s printed sweaters since they hit shelves and Delfina Delettrez’s kooky drop earrings.
The eye, once a symbol of the subconscious mind— is now used to show a whimsical, if not ironic, view the world. And much like surrealist works of art, these eye-catching fashions are peculiar, creepy and completely cool at the same time. (And who doesn’t love some weird shit, right?)
