It was only a matter of time before Hollywood’s leading workaholic, Ryan Seacrest dipped his loafered-toes into the fashion industry. In an effort to clean up the men of America, the American Idol host is launching his own line of affordable suits with a built-in color coordination system for those who can’t distinguish between a charcoal and a slate.
The line titled, Ryan Seacrest Distinction, will hit Macy’s stores country-wide in the fall, and will range from $45 for belts to $550 for a suit. While the name sounds like a 90s cologne ad, Seacrest wants to encourage men to sport suits beyond just special occasions and have affordable options to choose from that go beyond the Men’s Warehouse. Seacrest can certainly pant-crease with the best of them and we can’t think of a time when the star ever looked disheveled.
A line born out of market research, the idea was devised by the menswear company Randa Accessories, who found Mr. Seacrest’s style to be the most “googled” of male muses. Seacrest doesn’t view his role as designer but rather a “curator of different pieces,” which includes his “Style Made Smart” system. His tailored collection of suits, tuxedos, dress shirts, ties and accessories are all numbered to easily mix and match. The system is based off of Seacrest’s own fastidious way of dressing, coordinating everything ahead of time. Which makes sense, considering he seems to spend every waking moment on television.
While adult professionals are their key target, Seacrest wants to influence those tricky 18- to 25 millennials as well heading to their first unpaid internship, er, job.
