‘Spider-Man’ Star Andrew Garfield Reveals His Porn Name

ALTAfter a star-making turn in 2010’s The Social Network, it was evident that Andrew Garfield was a great performer. But it wasn’t until an unexpected appearance at 2011’s San Diego Comic-Con that it was obvious he was a great person too. Last year’s The Amazing Spider-Man panel kicked off with a surprise intro from the actor, who walked the hall floor in full Spidey costume, only to reveal himself as he approached the Q&A microphone. There, he professed his love for Spider-Man, comic book fandom and his gratefulness for a chance to play the iconic character that he looked up to when he was a kid. “This might be the most incredible day of my life. I always wanted to be at Comic-Con in Hall H as Spider-Man. It’s always been a dream of mine.” What a guy!

Being a “character of the people,” Garfield sought inspiration from every incarnation of Spider-Man — even the less obvious ones. Yes, Garfield cites the Spider-Man Porn Parody as an indication that the webslinger’s appeal is never-ending, and the fact that he’s willing to acknowledge its existence is proof of the actor’s own fandom and dedication to getting the character right. When I met Garfield to discuss The Amazing Spider-Man, he started asking me questions (“what’s your porn star name?” — the perfect icebreaker), but the actor quickly dives into the his own passions for Spider-Man/Peter Parker and why his version isn’t the two-dimensional caricature you might remember from the past.
