Bobby Brown Sings About Whitney Houston’s Death on ‘Tonight Show’

EmmittThis is bound to stir up a mixture of reactions: Bobby Brown, most famous for his contentious marriage to the late Whitney Houston, has penned a song called “Don’t Let Me Die,” chronicling what sounds like his grief over Houston’s passing. On Wednesday, Brown performed the song on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The song will appear on Brown’s upcoming album, Masterpiece, which will release in June.

Although a good deal of the public’s connotations with Brown’s marriage to Houston (which ended in divorce in 2007) are negative — people tend to focus on the pair’s drug abuse and Brown’s infidelity — it’s impossible to deny the obvious emotional trauma that one endures after the passing of a former spouse.

Many of the lyrics of Brown’s new song focus on his attempts to move on with his life in the wake of Houston’s death. “I’m holding onto these memories,” Brown sings. “That’s the only way that I’ll survive.”
