Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman Separate

Danny DeVito Rhea PerlmanWe can sadly add actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman to our growing list of “Celebrity Couples We Thought Would be Together Forever But Have Now Split” (the list already includes Seal and Heidi Klum, Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, and Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis). After 30 years of marriage, the two have decided to go their separate ways. The couple’s representative, Stan Rosenfield, has confirmed the separation to Hollywood.com.

DeVito, 67, and Perlman, 64, met in 1970 after Perlman attended an off-Broadway production of The Shrinking Bride, in which DeVito starred. They lived together for 11 years and then wed in 1982. The couple has three children together.

The split comes to a huge shock to fans, who saw the marriage as solid and unbreakable. Perlman herself said in a 1983 interview with People, “You’d really have to work hard at breaking us up at this point.” As no cause for the split has yet been reported, we will just have to wait to see what it was that changed. In the meantime, we’ll be crying in the corner.
