Everything You Need to Know About Chicago’s ‘Hamilton’

Move over, Netflix. America has found a new obsession, Hamilton. At this point, you’d have to be living under a rock not to know about Broadway’s latest sensation. Though the Tony Award-winning musical has roots in NYC, Chicago debuts the show’s newly-minted production. Here’s everything you need to know…

There’s a new Founding Father in town.

It takes talent to tackle the role of historical icon/rapper. The latest Hamilton stars Miguel Cervantes, a Broadway star who has also appeared on TV shows such as Person of Interest, Royal Pains, Madame Secretary and The Blacklist. Cervantes has big shoes to fill, but we’re ready to see him drop a beat — 18th-century style!

We’ll still be seeing Hamilton king, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The show’s creator and original star may be gone from the musical…but he’s definitely not forgotten. He helped with the Chicago show’s evolution, he’s pretty much a household name, and he has a pretty legit follower count on Twitter

It’s still the biggest deal ever.

This September, #HamiltonCHI finally made its debut. Fans flocked from across the nation to snag a seat at the PrivateBank Theatre on opening night. Take our word: People are still just as obsessed.

Hamilton will grace the Windy City for the next 4,000 years (or at least for a while).

If you’re still looking to book that plane ticket, you’ve got time. Producers announced that the hip-hop musical will stay in Chicago through September of 2017. #WORK
