As Jay Baruchel — the guy who looks like he was conceived for Nicolas Cage movies — accepted a Genie award for his work in The Trotsky, he thanked his fiancée and we learned that he is, in fact, engaged to Alison Pill. The two met and began dating while they were filming Baruchel’s hockey movie, Goon. Upon flooded with inquiries as to how he popped the question, Baruchel said, “I bought her this 180-year-old Victorian wedding band and I was going to give it as a nice kind of gift for Christmas… and I decided in that moment I might as well call a spade a spade and I’m pretty sure my words were, “fuck it, do you want to marry me?” to which she said, ‘yes, of course.'” They plan to marry in September of 2012, which gives Alison more than enough time to change her mind if her fiancé decides to try and help Nic out one more time so he can say at least one of his castles has been paid in full.
