Since a minute cannot go by where people aren’t scrutinizing Jessica Simpson’s every ounce, Weight Watchers has decided to make her the new face of the company. The singer/fashion mogul tweeted earlier today “So excited to be a part of the @WeightWatchers family!” confirming an endorsement that is rumored to be worth around $4 Million. Not a bad chunk of change to drop a few el-bees, you know?
Simpson took to Facebook to elaborate on the deal, explaining “The cool thing about the program is that it focuses on healthy habits for the long-term (and I can still indulge in my guilty pleasures every now and then too). I have actually gotten a group of friends together who are going to be doing it with me. You can join me too and we can share our experiences!” We wonder if fellow songstress and Weight Watchers celebrity ambassador Jennifer Hudson has any advice for Simpson.
Because body shaming is the new black, speculation about Simpson’s weight gain in her seemingly 5-year long pregnancy reached maximum capacity in the days leading up to the birth of her daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, on May 1st. Expect Simpson, who’s been target numero uno when it comes to discussions on weight, to stay way under the radar the next few months as she gets into “big reveal” shape for Weight Watchers–to say nothing of her impending wedding to fiancé Eric Johnson. The media blitz around Simpson’s weight is only going to get more intense, no doubt.
Weight Watchers also released a statement to TMZ about their new addition, saying “We’re thrilled that Jessica Simpson has chosen to join Weight Watchers to adopt a healthier lifestyle and inspire others to do the same.”What do you think about the media’s obsession with Jessica Simpson’s weight? Do you think people are too critical? Sound off in the comments!
