18 Lucille Ball GIFs Proving Women Have Always Been Funny

There is a heinous rumor going around that women are suddenly becoming funny; Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin joked about it at the Golden Globes, the classic comedy film Ghostbusters has a new cast of only women (so far), and shows like Broad City are ruling television. The thought that women are only now becoming funny is ludicrous, and to back us up, we’re using our favorite star of all time, Lucille Ball. She was funny, fabulous, and feminist. Ball was one of the first female leads on a TV show and, in 1962, she became the first woman to run a major television studio. She did it all while winning the hearts of America and making us laugh.

She never backed down.
