Sometimes he envisioned women as insects, or motorcycles, or aliens. But first and foremost, they were always vamps. So sexual, they could make a stripper blush. So vampy, The Queen of the Damned might actually back down. His 1988 collection was devoted to the She Devil, and featured gloves with talons, lightning bolt necklines and clutches shaped like bats. Google him. And prepare to be amazed.
Alexander McQueen
McQueen will forever be remembered as Fashion’s Dark Knight, an original who never shied away from challenging his fans with seasonal inspirations drenched in Goth. The inspiration for his AW 2007 collection was the entire history of witchcraft. He would’ve gotten to vampires eventually.
John Galliano
Even fashion fetishists who worshipped at the feet of John Galliano gasped at the quasi-Satanist ecclesiastical fantasia he sent down the runway for his 2006 Christian Dior Haute Couture.
