Whitney Houston’s Official Cause of Death: Accidental Drowning

ALTThe mystery of what caused Whitney Houston‘s shocking death has finally been solved. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s investigation, the icon died of “accidental drowning.” However, as many speculated, drugs also played a role.

The report states that cocaine and heart disease were contributing factors in Houston’s death. The singer was found dead in a bathtub in the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 11. Her problems with drug addiction were well known, and tests confirmed that she also had marijuana, Xanax, Flexeril, and Benadryl in her system. However, officials say these, “did not contribute to her death.”

After hearing the news, the Houston family released this statement: “We are saddened to learn of the toxicology results, although we are glad to now have closure.”
