Buffy, the Vampire Slayer has undergone some massive changes this season, making the jump from the WB to UPN and forcing each cast member to brush up on their singing chops. But the show–and its main star–will be making at least one more major change in an upcoming episode: Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s shearing off her hair.
Now, she’s not going to be bald; she’s basically mimicking former WB pal Keri Russell, who made the same move two years ago, cutting off about a foot of her famed mane–a move that hurt Felicity‘s ratings.
Nonetheless, on the Buffy episode airing Jan. 8, viewers will witness Gellar hacking off “a few inches” of her locks, according to PageSix.com. Like Russell did two years ago, Gellar is already growing back her hair.
It’s a bold move for Buffy: when Russell did the same thing in her show’s second season, ratings dropped by 30 percent.
