Meg Stalter to Make Broadway Debut in Oh, Mary! This July

Beloved comedian and actress Meg Stalter is officially heading to Broadway. The breakout star of the hit HBO series Hacks will make her Broadway debut this summer in the wildly popular comedy Oh, Mary!

Meg Stalter (Ryan Pfluger)

Stalter is set to take over the lead role beginning July 6 for a limited 10-week engagement at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre. She will replace Maya Rudolph, whose final performance is scheduled for July 5. The production announced the exciting casting news on social media, generating immediate buzz among theater fans and comedy lovers alike.

Created by Cole Escola, Oh, Mary! reimagines the life of Mary Todd Lincoln in an absurd and chaotic comedy set during the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The show presents Mary as a cabaret-loving alcoholic with outrageous dreams of stardom, delivering a completely unconventional spin on American history.

In a statement shared with the announcement, Stalter praised Escola’s writing and described joining the production as “the prize of a lifetime.” Known for her eccentric humor and viral online comedy videos, Stalter has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to her scene-stealing performances and unique comedic style.

Since premiering Off-Broadway in 2024, Oh, Mary! has become one of Broadway’s biggest surprise hits. The production transferred to the Lyceum Theatre later that year and went on to break box office records, even becoming the first show in the venue’s 121-year history to gross more than $1 million in a single week.

The acclaimed comedy also earned two Tony Awards in 2025, including Best Leading Actor in a Play for Escola and Best Direction of a Play for Sam Pinkleton.
