His Current Gig: Michael Berg in the post-WWII thriller The Reader, playing a 15-year-old having a two-month fling with a woman twice his age (Kate Winslet). Years later, he learns that she is on trial for war crimes.
You Know This Face … Well, you know it if you live in Germany, where he’s been a young staple in film and TV. The Hamburg-born actor landed his first gig at just 12 years old with the made-for-television movie Help, I’m a Boy! (Hilfe Ich Bin Ein Jungle). He later went on to star in the award-winning film Tough Enough (Knallhart) about a bullied high-schooler and most recently Krabat, a tale of dark arts and sorcery. Oh, and in real life he’s several years beyond 15.
Why So Fresh? Working for Oscar-worthy director Stephen Daldry (The Hours) and rolling around naked with fellow academy-nominee Winslet can only boost his chances for a successful run in Tinseltown.
In His Own Words … “This film had my first sex scenes,” confesses Kross, who didn’t disrobe until after he turned 18 on set. “The hardest part was the preparation, studying the story, talking about the emotions. Once we actually got to filming, it was fun.”
