BURLESQUE
Starring: Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci
Directed by: Steven Antin
Opens: November 24, 2010
Burlesque marks the return of Cher -- who hasn’t appeared on the big screen since 2003’s Stuck on You -- and the debut of both its co-lead actress, Aguilera, and director, Antin. But that’s merely a side story to this ambitious musical about an L.A. club owner (Cher) who gives the proverbial once-in-a-lifetime chance to the proverbial small-town girl (Aguilera) with big dreams, er, a big voice.

What We Think: Do you like musicals? Those who do needn’t fret about some newcomer half-assedly tampering with your genre: Antin is a movie vet with close ties to the music industry, and Burlesque, which he also wrote, is his passion project. Plus, Cher’s back! - Advertisement -
Cool to Know: Cher’s musical buddy/Moonstruck writer John Patrick Shanley gave the script a once-over and even contributed to it -- another reason why fans of the genre should rest easy before seeing Burlesque.
