TRON:LEGACY
Starring: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde
Directed by: Joseph Kosinski
Opens: December 17, 2010
TRON: Legacy’s premise sounds like the stuff of video games, in a good way: Two decades after the disappearance of his father (Bridges), Sam Flynn (Hedlund) goes looking and is ultimately drawn into the same quasi-alternative digital universe, where both father and son fend off heretofore unfathomable beings and, well, nonbeings in order to make it out alive.

What We Think: Geeks, rejoice! Cinephiles, rejoice! Technophiles, rejoice! TRON looks amazing, in more ways than one and to more movie-going demographics than one -- and it’s a safe bet that producers learned from the similarly re-imagined and tripped-out calamity that was Speed Racer a few years back. Everything, from the ‘WTF!’ concept(s) to the mere involvement of original TRON star (and suddenly very in-demand) Bridges, oozes cool. - Advertisement -
Cool to Know: Kosinski, making his feature directorial debut, is not exactly a rookie: He has directed countless TV commercials, most notably the video-game variety. Separately, Legacy will be released in select D-BOX-equipped theaters, which means some lucky moviegoers will be able to see it AND feel it.
