The much talked about Scarface reboot (a role that Al Pacino made legendary in the 1980’s) just got some incredible and not so incredible news. Yesterday, Variety reported that Training Day director Antoine Fuqua will no longer be taking the reigns of the film as director. This news obviously sucks because Fuqua is a master of the action thriller, and we need someone with his vision to pull off the 21st-century version of the iconic rags to riches tale.

“Sources say Fuqua very much wanted to do the film, and that he and his team were still trying to figure out a way to make it work even as Uni was meeting with other directors,” Variety reports. “But ultimately, Fuqua had already spent so much time developing the script for the next Equalizer that he simply couldn’t move on from a project he had so much invested in.”

Still, with the bad news, we did get some good. It looks like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Diego Luna will be starring in the reboot and we seriously couldn’t be more thrilled. The 37-year-old Mexican actor will take on the new story which is set in contemporary Los Angeles and focuses on a Mexican immigrant.

No one can pull off Tony Montana like Pacino could, but we have a feeling that Diego Luna can come pretty damn close! Now all the studio has to do is find the perfect director.
