Kristen Stewart is joining the ensemble cast of writer-director Tim Blake Nelson‘s indie Anesthesia, according to Deadline. The Twilight actress will be toning down her teenage-fangirl superstar status and taking a small role in the film, which will follow “a group of New Yorkers whose lives are touched by the same philosophy professor.” While her character is currently unknown, presumably she’ll be playing one of the devoted and enamoured students. Now raise your hand if you think that sounds exactly like the type of movie Stewart would take a role in. We can just picture a Stewart-like student with heavy black eye-makeup sitting in a lecture hall who’s completely enraptured by her “profound” and “worldly” philosophy professor. (She could even end up playing the student who inevitably falls in love with him/her.)
To further her indie-image (and her distance from Twilight-sized films), Stewart is also set to star in three other indies: Camp X-Ray, Sils Maria, and The Big Shoe.
Anesthesia is currently filming in NYC.
