Gwen Stefani almost snubbed Eminem collaboration

Gwen Stefani tried to talk her “dream” collaborator Eminem out of plans to work together over fears her life as a soccer mum would “ruin” his street reputation.
The No Doubt frontwoman lent her vocals to the hip-hop superstar’s 2015 track Kings Never Die for the soundtrack to Jake Gyllenhaal’s boxing movie Southpaw, but she almost backed out of the project after receiving Eminem’s call while in the car with her three young kids.
“I remember driving and getting a call and it comes on the speakers in the car, and all the kids are in the car, and it was Eminem,” Gwen recalled to U.S. news show Access Hollywood.
“(It was) my dream to work with him and he had called me to be on one of his songs.”
However, the singer was concerned the rapper would be as foul-mouthed in his everyday conversation as he is in his music, so she tried to wrap up the call as fast as she could.
“I was like, so scared he was gonna say something inappropriate,” Gwen laughed. “I was like, ‘I just wanna let you know, I’m actually in a (mini) van on the way to soccer practice with all my kids, so you might wanna rethink this collaboration, I don’t wanna ruin your whole vibe!’
“I was like, ‘Just don’t say anything bad, I’ve got the kids here!'”
Gwen needn’t have worried about Eminem’s language: “That was a real moment and we had such a fun conversation,” she said. “(But) I got lost and (was) late to soccer practice…!”
