S2:E4 Last night’s Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami opened with the sisters, Scott and Mason attending a polo match. Kourtney found a hot polo player she wanted to flirt with, so she got up with him on his horse and used his stick to hit some balls. In the car ride home, Kourtney explained to Khloe how tightly the polo player was holding on to her when she was on the horse, and she was disappointed Scott’s tail didn’t grow in size and width out of extreme jealousy, like an aristocat. This was Kourtney’s problem this episode: that her husband trusts her. It was particularly hard for me to watch, because my biggest problem right now is figuring out the part of my dryer that’s broken and describing it to someone who can fix it. (It has no name!)
Khloe went back to Los Angeles and found herself competing with her brother Rob for her husband Lamar’s attention. Khloe let Rob move in with them because he was a 23 year-old guy living with his parents (which apparently is immensely uncool in some circles, even if you had filled that bedroom with Ed Hardy furniture) and she felt bad for him. As a result, Rob and Lamar became quite the buddies: they love playing video games with each other and searching for t-shirts that have the Lakers colors so they aren’t mistaken for people who made money by inventing a cure for something. At one point, Khloe was so sick of begging Lamar to come and cuddle with her that she told him she was going to put on something sexy in ten minutes, and that he should come into their bedroom expecting to get some bootay. And like a good twenty-first century wife she did so, but Lamar was more interested in beating Rob at a simulated game of basketball than he was in making love to his wife. One can only imagine how much Khloe’s stock dropped last night.
Back in Miami, Kourtney called a bisexual friend of hers with whom she shared a make out sesh last season and invited her over to her place to pretend to flirt and make Scott jealous. Once back at the apartment, the girls ordered champagne and got in the hot tub, which seemed a little mean considering the friend actually really likes Khloe. Once Scott got home, they bounced around the hot tub and nibbled on chocolate-covered strawberries. This did make Scott jealous, but realizing it was a setup and wanting to get back at Khloe for setting him up, he took off all his clothes and asked them what the rate for “two on one” would be. Disgusted, the girls got out of the hot tub and all the jokes came to an end. Unfortunately, the “end” didn’t include Kourtney and Scott going to sleep because they had to go to work the next morning. Kourtney explained she feared Scott doesn’t think she’s as sexy as she was before she had her baby, but in possibly the nicest moment we’ll ever have all season, Scott told her he finds her even sexier now and apologized for not conveying it. So their problem is fixed, and my clothes still won’t dry.
So, hooray for finding concrete resolutions to insignificant problems! This episode proved communication is key in relationships, and that sometimes, basketball players will turn down sex to play more basketball.
