The three-hour finale marked the end of another successful season of the long-running ABC singing competition, with viewers watching Harper’s journey come full circle after her unforgettable audition first captured attention online earlier this year.

Harper, a 25-year-old stay-at-home mom from Missouri, became an early favorite after performing her original bluegrass gospel song, “String Cheese,” during auditions. The emotional track, inspired by postpartum depression and motherhood, quickly went viral across social media and became one of the season’s most talked-about moments.

Throughout the competition, Harper impressed judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie with her songwriting ability and authentic performances. During the finale, she reprised “String Cheese” and also performed another original song titled “Married Into This Town.”

Bryan praised Hannah Harper following her final performance, calling her “a true artist” and applauding her ability to connect with audiences throughout the season.

The finale also featured major celebrity performances from Alicia Keys, Raye, Mötley Crüe, Brad Paisley, Jason Mraz, and Nelly. Underwood even joined Mötley Crüe onstage for a rock-inspired medley that became one of the night’s biggest surprises.

With a viral audition, a devoted fan base, and emotional original music, Hannah Harper’s victory as the American Idol winner marks one of the most memorable wins in recent Idol history.
