The Voice is officially back. Season 29, titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, premiered last night on NBC, and the competition is already heating up. With major format twists and a powerhouse coaching lineup, this season is shaping up to be one of the most intense yet.
For the first time, The Voice features a three-Coach panel, putting the spotlight squarely on returning fan favorites Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine. All three have previously coached winning Artists, making this a true clash of Voice veterans. With only three red chairs in play instead of four, the rivalry feels sharper and more strategic from the very first Blind Audition.

As always, The Voice begins with Blind Auditions, where Artists perform without seeing the Coaches, hoping to earn a coveted chair turn. But Season 29 introduces a new twist: the “Triple Turn Competition.” When all three Coaches turn for the same Artist, it counts as a Triple Turn. The Coach who lands the most Triple Turn Artists earns a major advantage — a “Super Steal” during the Battles round — raising the stakes early in the season.
Beyond the Blind Auditions, viewers can expect additional format updates, including an All-Star competition, an alumni jury influencing key voting rounds, and special guest appearances. Fan-favorite CeeLo Green also returns in a brand-new role, adding even more excitement to the mix.
