CNN’s non-stop coverage of last month’s attacks made it the most-watched cable network during September and gave the all-news channel its highest ratings since the Gulf War, according to figures released Wednesday by Nielsen Research. CNN averaged 1.7 million viewers in primetime, up 269 percent from the same period a year ago. Commenting on the results, today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution remarked that although CNN and Fox had previously been locked in a ratings dead heat, September’s results showed that “CNN proved again that viewers will turn to it during a big breaking news story.”
