Do Coke + Potter = $150 million?

Coca-Cola has declined to confirm reports that it has agreed to spend $150 million for a marketing and ad campaign linked to the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Publicists for the soft-drink company referred reporters to a February news release stating that the Harry Potter marketing deal with Warner Bros. will focus on “helping people discover the magical world of their imaginations through reading while reinforcing the core values and attributes shared by Harry Potter and Coca-Cola.”

(In a feature article, the London Mail on Sunday noted on Oct. 7 that Harry would seem to have little in common with a product that “boosts caffeine levels and rots teeth.”)
