Toronto-based Hotline Communications has acknowledged that some users of its Internet service have traded a number of copies of American Pie 2 online, even though the movie is not set for release until next week. The company told the Canadian Press wire service that since the copies had been found on “some users’ computers though not on our servers,” there was no way for it to delete the material. “It’s not the first time we’ve seen it but it’s pretty unusual,” said chief financial officer John Caliendo. “Typically it happens because someone went to a screening and had a hidden camera, or someone within the studio leaked a digital copy.”
