In Tuesday’s edition we reported that we had received several messages from readers who took issue with our report that, prior to the success of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the most successful film based on a video game was Pokémon: The First Movie. The readers claimed that the Pokémon movie was preceded by the animated TV series and numerous other games, toys and picture books. These readers, we have determined, were incorrect. Nintendo originally introduced the characters for its Game Boy device and has licensed all subsequent use for other media, including the theatrical films.
