World series strikes out, then makes a comeback

Game one of the World Series, in which the Arizona Diamondbacks routed the New York Yankees 9-1, produced dismal results by World Series standards. Although it produced a win for Fox for the night, the 9.2/16 overnight rating was well behind last year’s 14.0/25 for the first game of the Mets-Yankees series, the 15.0/26 for the first game of the 1999 series, the 14.3/25 for the 1998 series and the 14.0/25 for the 1997 series. Sunday’s results, however, showed signs of a comeback, as the game pulled a 16.1/24 in the overnights, bettering last year’s 15.2/23.
