A24 has given the nod for a sequel to Talk to Me, the supernatural horror flick that surpassed box office forecasts.
The Daring Duo Behind Talk to Me
The Australian YouTube sensations Danny and Michael Philippou, who made their feature debut by directing this terrifying thriller, are set to come back for the subsequent film. Danny Philippou is teaming up with Bill Hinzman to pen the screenplay, though the plot remains under wraps at this time.
Talk to Me hit theaters on July 28, shattering predictions with a strong $10.4 million opening. These sales positioned it as one of A24’s largest wide-release launches ever, behind Hereditary which earned $13.6 million on opening weekend. The movie has since pulled in a robust $23.2 million domestically.
The storyline revolves around a group of friends who learn how to summon spirits, a thrilling venture until one of them inadvertently calls forth a terrifying supernatural entity. The cast includes Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, and Miranda Otto.
Talk to Me is Greeted by Critical Acclaim from Industry Professionals and Moviegoers Alike
A24 picked up Talk to Me during the Sundance Film Festival, where it was hailed by critics. The studio later promoted the film at San Diego Comic-Con to drum up excitement for its opening weekend.
Word-of-mouth and critical acclaim aided Talk to Me in making a splash at the box office.

Watched Danny & Michael Philippou’s Talk To Me today & it was fantastic! Saw it alone and it was a very spooky experience. There were plenty of good scares and eerie moments that had me at the edge of my seat. Looooved the ending. I am a happy RackaRacka fan. @talktomemovie pic.twitter.com/9vOwxKiMrD
