Lucy Hale to Star in Roku Limited Series ‘Scarlett Holmes’

Lucy Hale is taking on a new mystery — but this time, the case involves love.

The Pretty Little Liars star is set to headline Roku’s upcoming limited series Scarlett Holmes, which puts a romantic twist on the classic Sherlock Holmes mythology. The series is expected to premiere in 2027.

Hale will play Scarlett Holmes, a modern-day descendant of the legendary detective. While Scarlett has inherited her family’s remarkable powers of observation, she uses them for a very different purpose. Rather than investigating crimes, she helps people untangle complicated romantic situations, from secret crushes and mixed signals to dating dilemmas.

Scarlett works alongside her trusted partner, Jane Watson, as they help clients navigate their love lives. However, Scarlett discovers that understanding romance becomes much harder when she finds herself involved in a mystery of her own.

Her biggest challenge arrives in the form of Ollie Moriarity, a charming podcast producer who is secretly working on an exposé about Scarlett’s methods. As their relationship develops, Scarlett must figure out whether she can trust him while attempting to make sense of her own feelings.

Each episode of Scarlett Holmes will reportedly draw inspiration from a beloved romantic comedy, blending mystery and romance into an episodic format.

Hale said she is a longtime fan of romantic comedies and was drawn to the series because of its fresh approach to the genre. The role also gives her an opportunity to combine the mystery experience she gained from Pretty Little Liars with her work in romantic comedies.

Hale will also serve as an executive producer on the series. Scarlett Holmes is produced by Jaggi Entertainment, with Sophie Tilson and Steve Jaggi executive producing. Paris Herbert-Taylor and Katie Wilbert wrote the series, while Roku executives Morgan Pichinson and Sabrina Lyall oversee the project.

With Hale at the center, Scarlett Holmes could offer a playful new take on both the detective story and the modern romantic comedy.
