Everything We Know about DC’s Newest Project Run: Batman, Superman, and Beyond

After the sudden cancellation of major DC movies, fans and onlookers alike may feel whiplash with the announcement that DC Studios has announced the new direction. That includes a new Batman movie that will focus on Bruce Wayne’s  son, Damien Wayne. Additionally, the studio has confirmed that Superman and Supergirl movies are also in the works and will be part of the release schedule.

DC Continues Building on Robert Pattinson’s Batman

Fans of the Dark Knight are in for a treat as Robert Pattinson’s Batman return is set with the release of Matt Reeves’ Batman sequel in 2025. The movie promises to be a thrilling addition to the DC Cinematic Universe and is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman, and fans are eager to see how he builds on the character in the next film. Robin Joins the Modern DC Cinematic Universe

While DC is being hush hush about all the specifics, we know the movie will focus on  Bruce Wayne’s son, Damien Wayne. Batman will guide the violent nightmare child Damian under his and teach him how to be Robin.  

The movie presents an original father-son tale inspired by Grant Morrison’s Batman and Batman & Robin comic book series, illustrated by Frank Quitely and other artists. Their run introduced outrageous new villains, including the flesh-eating Flamingo and the cosmetic-fixated Professor Pyg. It also revealed Batman’s shocking discovery that Talia al Ghul, his on-and-off romantic interest, had concealed the existence of their son, Damian.”

The new Batman movie is just a small portion of the multi-project slate that DC Studios has announced. DC plans to also focus on Superman and Supergirl

This Superman is focused on staying canonical, which includes his strong no killing rules. This Superman is also based on the Grant Morrison comics, allowing for more continuity between the Batman and Superman films.

Along with the Man of Steel,  a Supergirl movie is also in the works.  While details on this film are held more close to the vest, there are reports that Tom King, one of the most decorated comics writers of the last few years, has been helping conceptualize elements of the new DCU, as well.

One of the most exciting aspects of this new slate of movies is that it will give fans a chance to see some of their favorite characters in a new light. With James Gunn at the helm, this new change  is sure to bring.
