Move over Mariah Carey, there’s a new diva taking over American Idol. Oscar-winning singer, and Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson is the newest star to join the newly vacant judging panel.

E! Online reports that Hudson has signed a deal to sit at the prestigious judges table this fall for Season 13. Hudson is just one of three Idol alums that Fox is hoping will fill next year’s judicial chairs. Sources close to the site say that Season 1 victor Kelly Clarkson is negotiating a deal for the 2014 season, and the third seat is reserved for either Clay Aiken or Adam Lambert.

After the lowest rated season finale in American Idol history, Fox is hoping that fan-favorite contestants-turned-judges will be enough to spark viewers to tune back in. With the success of The X Factor and The Voice, Idol has lost roughly 10 million viewers in the past two years.

Hollywood.com reached out to Fox, but the network responded with a simple “no comment” regarding Hudson’s status as a judge. Reminisce with us and take a look at Hudson’s American Idol audition below.
