Less than a week after the news that Bette Midler was leaving HBO’s upcoming Phil Spector biopic due to health reasons, the network has brought in a potential upgrade in Helen Mirren.
The Oscar winner will replace the Grammy/Emmy/Tony winner in the aptly titled Phil Spector, about the prolific record producer-turned-convicted murderer of the same name.
Mirren will play Linda Kenney, Spector’s defense attorney during his first trial — and her quick addition means the film will resume shooting in just a week.
