Monday Night 7/12
The Happening – 1:50 AM on MOMAXe
The Happening has had a brief resurgence of late. At the time of it’s release it was maligned as the most incompetent and stupidest movie that M Night Shyamalan had ever done, but in the light of the even worse The Last Airbender, The Happening has been upgraded to just plain incompetent and stupid. Fortunately, it’s also hilarious, as long as you have a taste for bad movies.
Tuesday Night 7/13
The Fly – 12:00 AM on FMC
David Croenberg’s The Fly is a gross-out masterpiece, with a bit more of a heart than most in the genre. Well, heart, mucous, eyes and bile. Plus, midnight is the perfect time to watch it, the creepy atmosphere adds to the scares, and because it’s been hours since your last meal your stomach is safe as well.
Wednesday Night 7/14
Too Many Babies? – 1:00 AM on Discovery Health
Yes, Discovery Health. You do have too many babies. All of your shows are about pregnant woman, your channel has a higher birth rate than some European countries. Lay off the freaking babies for once.
Thursday Night 7/15
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – 12 AM on TCM
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a fun movie, but it’s a somewhat mundane choice for a midnight movie. If you’re interested in spicing up your viewing, consider the is airing on IFC on Monday at 3 AM, but you might want to record it and watch it after you finish The Seventh Seal. A lot of Holy Grail is directly parodying Seal, and it’s neat to see where some of the jokes come from. And you’ll probably need the cheering up.
