S3:E7 “You’re a good mom. You know that?” – Kevin
At 2 AM, Grace woke Jackie up because she felt like her heart was going really fast and she wanted her mother to make sure she wasn’t going to die. Jackie made sure she was fine, and then ushered Grace downstairs to have some hot cocoa. Kevin joined them and Grace took out a deck of cards that had all the Saints on them. She pointed out which ones had died because their heads were cut off and which ones had died because their throats were slashed, and told her parents she was worried she would choose the wrong one to be for her school play. Grace went off to bed pondering about boils and gouged out eyes, and Kevin earnestly told Jackie she was a good mother.
“You’re fucking out of your mind.” – Kevin
When Jackie got home that night, Kevin confronted her about the stash he found in the car while he was picking up Grace’s saint cards. Jackie explained that that supply was old and told Kevin she understood how finding it must have been terribly hard for him. He still didn’t believe her and asked her if he was going to have to toss the house to find all of her stashes, but then she whipped out the “30 days sober” chip she got from her dealer and presented it to him and said that at her morning NA meeting, she heard a story about a woman whose boyfriend overdosed but before she called an ambulance, she took his drugs. And as she leaned in towards Kevin to hug him, we saw that she had stuck one of Eddie’s Fentanyl patches onto her arm.
