Ricky Gervais and ‘Dexter’ Producer Team For Show About Atheism

Ricky Gervais isn’t done with television, in fact he’s coming back for more. Together with Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips, the creator of The Office is working to bring Afterlife to a TV near you.

The show will follow an atheist who dies and ends up — oh-so ironically — in heaven. Surprisingly, the show will not star the famously atheist Gervais, but instead will reserve its creator for a cameo. Between Gervais’ dark, blunt sense of humor and Phillips’ affinity for the more dastardly side of life, Afterlife has heaps of potential. The duo are working on writing the pilot now with plans to start filming in early 2012.
