Showtime is perhaps best known for its heavy-hitting, pitch-black dramas, most notably Dexter and Homeland. But its comedies have also earned a healthy following and a good amount of acclaim. In light of this, Showtime is renewing comedies Californication and House of Lies, and its comedy/drama Shameless.
Californication has earned a sixth season on the premium cable network. The continuing misadventures of David Duchovny as hedonistic writer Hank Moody have proven entertaining and a good source of vicarious living for American audiences since the show’s inception in 2007. Californication, currently in its fifth season, airs Sunday nights at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Showtime’s newest series, House of Lies, has been renewed for a second season. The plot revolves around a group of high-power executive-types who make up a management consulting firm. Don Cheadle leads the way with fourth wall-breaking narration and a stoic wit. He is backed up by the always excellent Kristen Bell, Josh Lawson, and a mellowed-out Ben Schwartz. House of Lies airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Finally, Shameless, the comedic and dramatic account of alcoholic single father Frank Gallagher (the great William H. Macy) whose six children strive to raise themselves and their hapless father. Shameless has been renewed for a third season. The series airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
